Men – It may seem that there are ever increasing pressures in the world and in our society today, be it churches comprising, social justice issues, government issues, gender confusion, so-called ‘deconstructionism’, the destruction of the family, etc.
Yet we are reminded that there is nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9).
Jesus reminds us that in this world we’ll have trouble, but to take heart because He’s overcome the world (John 16:33). He is the Unchanging One (Heb 13:8). He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power (Heb 1:3). He is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11) and as his under-shepherds, as men of Christ, we must stand firm, guarding the flocks he’s entrusted to us in our families and various spheres of influence.
We have an enemy who prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour, so we have to be watchful and sober-minded (1 Peter 5:8).
Men – We have to lead the way. We have to Stand Firm.
Scripture calls us over and over again to stand firm. To stand firm for the truth. To stand firm In Christ. To be rooted In Christ. To trust In Christ. To proclaim Christ. To serve Christ. To do all things for the sake of Christ. We are to stand firm in the faith (1 Cor 16:13), be steadfast/immovable (1 Cor 15:58), standing firm in The Lord (Phil 4:1), standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, striving side by side for the faith of the gospel (Phil 1:27).
