Jesus’ call to discipleship is not a promise of comfort, security, or early retirement—it is a summons to daily self-denial and lifelong faithfulness. In a culture shaped by the American Dream, men are subtly taught to work hard now so they can coast later, to measure success by ease, accumulation, and escape from responsibility. But Christ calls His followers to a very different vision: not a life aimed at comfort, but a life poured out in obedience.
